Glass and Wood Glue
Glue Glass and Wood - Antique Mirror
"Hello, I can be a bit of skeptic as I have used a number of different types of "super glues" with varying results. Mr Glue surprised me. I have an antique mirror that wouldn't stay attached to the frame. I warmed up my Mr Glue , cleaned off the back of the mirror and the wood that I was about to attach it to. I dropped four tiny drops of the glue, equally spaced onto the back of the mirror, positioned it exactly where I wanted it and held my breath. To my surprised, it held and has now for months. Amazing! Thank you for such a great product. Sincerely, AKJ"
Excellent glass to wood glue, Mister Glue needs a clean surface and a tight fit. If you clean the glass surfaces with a solvent allow time for the solvent to evaporate before applying the glue. Another important thing to know when you are using this or any type of superglue or Krazy Glue is that there isn't a hurry to put the two surfaces together once the glue is applied but when you put the two pieces together you will not be able to move them around to fit. The glue will bond right away. If it is a bit tricky then practice before you apply the glue. I try and put enough on so that when you squeeze the two pieces together it ends up covering the whole surface. This prevents air pockets that can swell with temperature changes.
You only need to put the glue on one side so when you are bonding glass and wood put the glue on the glass as it is less porous. That way if the wood is a bit dry it won't all soak in leaving nothing left on the surface.
Mister Glue is an industrial cyanoacrylate - that is the same base as superglue but having been distilled several times there are no solvents so the glue will not dry out in the bottle. It also make Mister Glue many times stronger than super glue or Krazy Glue.
