Staining Wood Filler

Staining Wood Filler:

This is a matter of testing. Wood stain will go into some things that are used as a filler with glue and not into others. Using sawdust with Mister Glue as a wood filler then applying a wood stain will be a lot more successful than using something like baking soda. But again test as even using sawdust it may come up a slightly different color because of the glue. There will be other variations as well depending on how fine the sawdust that you are using and the amont or ratio of glue to sawdust. But using sawdust with Mister Glue will give you a stainable wood filler more often than not.

There are alternatives to using sawdust depending on the color that you are going for. Things like coffee or even flour. Coffee, will obviously, give you a much darker look.

Much wood when stained will be ok with minor variations anyway.

I find that using sawdust as a filler with Mister Glue will tool or sand the best. Fill the hole or crevice slightly past where you need it than sand it smooth before applying your wood stain. You can also test by putting some of your filler on a flat surface applying a few drops of Mister Glue and when it is set up a drop of your wood stain. You could even test different fineness and density of sawdust with the glue. Keep track of your samples so you don't have to retest every time.

Mister Glue dries clear so it will not discolor the wood filler.

Caution: Mister Glue is an industrial cyanoacrylate and will glue your fingers together especially if they are a bit dry. It is not that hard to get them apart if you do it correctly. It is the same base as super glue or Krazy glue but many times stronger.
