Glue Porous Materials
How to glue porous materials:
One of the most common porous items that we get asked about it wood. Mister Glue tends to soak into porous items so the wood or other porous materials need to be primed a bit first.
If you are going to use this glue to bond two pieces of wood, moisten the wood first. You don't want the surface wet but you do want enough moisture so that the glue will remain on the surface. Use a spray bottle or damp cloth. Dampen the surface and wipe off any water that is left then let it dry a bit. Then you can apply the glue. One does not have to cover the whole suraface to get a good bond. Criss cross the section that you are goint to fasten or put a square around the section a little in from the edge. Apply Mister Glue to only one side. Press the two surfaces tightly together. Within a few seconds it will be fully fixed in place.
Using a clamp won't add anything because by the time you get the two pieces in a vise it is already fully bonded. Full cure time is a few hours but much before that if you try and pull the two pieces apart it will tear the wood.
Mister Glue will not fill gaps so make sure that the two pieces of wood fit together well.
The same can be done for leather, clay or terra cotta.
